This installment of Festival Audio features a live performance by the legendary Funk Brothers. The Funk Brothers are the Motown Records studio musicians who helped define the sound of some of the best-known rhythm and blues recordings between 1959 and 1972.

This recording was made on June 30, 2011, on the Motor City Stage of the Rhythm and Blues Program at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C. Running time is 30 minutes. Enjoy!

The festival was outstanding! I particularly enjoyed the rhythm and blues acts. I look forward to next year.

So disappointed the Evening with the Funk Brothers had to be cancelled… will it be rescheduled?

The storm came in very fast and hard, so we had to cancel the evening concerts last night. Fortunately, both groups, The Funk Brothers and the Garifuna Collective, will be performing today. The Funk Brothers perform at 1:10 p.m. and 4:25 on the Motor City Stage. The Garifuna Collective performs at 11 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the World Stage. Hope you can will be able to catch one of these shows.

Great! Thanks. Schedule says Funk Brothers at like noon, so it’s 1:10? Long trip for me, so if you’re still around Sojin please confirm.
