Festival Audio – Azerbaijani Music with Imamyar Hasanov and Pezhham Akhavass

So far one of this year’s musical highlights has been the evening concert performance of Azerbaijani music with Imamyar Hasanov and Pezhham Akhavass. Hasanov plays the kamancha, a stringed instrument known for its tender and melodic sounds, and Akhavass plays percussion. The recording featured here is a traditional mugham improvisation.

Take note! Hasanov and Akhavass will perform again next Thursday, July 5 at 6 p.m.

This recording was made on June 28, 2012, at the Justin S. Morrill Performing Arts Center stage on the National Mall and is 8 minutes in duration. Enjoy!
