Sweet Heaven Kings: The Sounds of Sunday Morning

The Sweet Heaven Kings, an exhilarating brass ensemble, is made up of members of the United House of Prayer for All People in the Anacostia community of Washington, D.C. The group delivered this unforgettable performance at the 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, building from solo trombone to a tumult of brass.

This presentation was part of the Rinzler Memorial Concert, which honored the work of folklorist, cultural worker, and activisit Worth Long.

Videography by Kelsey Michael, Marinna Guzy, Michael Headley, and David Barnes.

Shout 101! Worth Long, how do we ever begin to thank you. The bridges you have built have touched more hearts and minds than you will ever know. That’s the best mortal man can do. You are the best.
