2014 Festival Preview: Dimen Dong Folk Chorus

The choral musical tradition widespread in southwestern China’s Dong communities is an a cappella polyphony. Dong music is inspired by nature, mimicking the sounds of insects, birds, mountains, and streams.

The Dimen Dong Folk Chorus of Guizhou Province performs on the “Voices of the World” Stage at the 2013 Smithsonian Folklife Festival as a preview for the 2014 Festival, which will feature China.

See no date for 2014. Could you please send me one?

When we have the dates confirmed for the 2014 Festival, we will post them from our Web site. As always, it will run from late June through early July.

Please consider July 12, 13th for festival dates. July 4th weekend is too crowded downtown. Some visitors look at DC as being very dangerous this weekend.
