Hungarian Heritage

Handwoven patterns on Hungarian ornamental textiles often feature stars, flowers, and birds, surrounded by geometric designs, typically with right angles. Red and blue remain the most traditional colors in Hungarian folk weaving even though other colors have been added more recently. The most characteristic weaving patterns are circulated within families and often recorded in pattern-books, many of which are still in use today to help sustain and maintain these traditions.
