Festival Production: Tech Crew Gearing Up
Most of the employees of the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage report to an office building near the National Mall every morning, but there also exists a contingent of hardworking Festival staff who call our warehouse in Lanham, Maryland, their workspace. Things are cooking in Prince George’s County as the tech crew starts stretching canvas, painting, sawing wood, and making dance floors on which we will all soon be boogying, Hungarian style. Keep your eye out for our carpenters and exhibit workers as they make the move to the Mall next week!
Shop foreman Tyler Nelson sent us these photos of the crew at work. Click on images to enlarge and view captions.
Meghan Hiscock is assistant to the Festival technical director. This is her third year on the Mall. She previously worked as the 2012 Festival supply coordinator (2012); and she was the 2011 Katzenberger Art History Intern for the Peace Corps Festival program.
