Pete Seeger Tribute: ‘If I Had a Hammer’ and ‘This Land Is Your Land’

Banjo player and music scholar Tony Seeger, nephew of the late American icon and Smithsonian Folkways Recordings artist Pete Seeger (1919–2014), performed at the 2014 Smithsonian Folklife Festival’s Ralph Rinzler Memorial Concert. He closed the evening with a medley of American folksongs “If I Had a Hammer” and “This Land Is Your Land,” during which he invited the evening’s cast of Kenyan and American performers onstage for a powerful audience sing-along.
