Submitting online helps to save the Smithsonian Folklife Festival time and money. Please fill in the fields below and click NEXT. Pre-Festival: June

In June assistance will be needed for clerical work in the office as well as general assistance on site. On June 24 and 25, Travel Aide volunteers are needed to ride with van and bus drivers to greet participants at the airport, train station, or hotel, and assist with luggage, transfers to the hotel, and hotel registration.

Accessibility Aide
Accessibility Aide: Assists people with special needs (wheelchair, large-print books, audio cassettes, sign language interpretation).

Documentation:
Audio Logger
Documentation Aide- Audio Logger: Records or assists in the recording of festival performances, interviews, and other programs. Recordings are on cassette tapes and digital recorders. Loggers must keep notes on the conversations taking place in narrative workshop sessions and keep track of the song titles performed for musical concerts.
Video Production
Documentation Aide-Video Production: Works as crew member during interviews and concerts, shooting video, recording audio, and maintaining a detailed camera log.
Photographer
Documentation Aide- Photographer: Takes photographs of Festival performances and presentations in assigned program area or on special assignment.
 
Evening Concert Aide
Evening Concert Aide: Assists participants who are performing and/or in the Marketplace area.
Foodways Aide
Foodways Aide: Assists with kitchen set-up, clean-up, and food preparation.
General Aide
General Aide: Provides general assistance; fills in positions as needed.
Hospitality Aide
Hospitality Aide: Assists Lead Volunteer with set-up and break-down of Festival Participant Hospitality area, prepares food, runs errands. Must arrive at 9 a.m. to assist with set-up.
Information Booth
Information Booth: Answers questions about the Festival and the Washington, D.C., area; sells program books detailing Festival events.
Marketplace Sale Aide
Marketplace Sales Aide: Stocks sales tent with craft items for sale; conducts sales transactions.
Opening Day Aide
Opening Day Aide: Assists in the set-up for the opening ceremony (June 26). Monitors VIP parking.
Program Aide
Program Aide: Assists the Program Staff and Lead Volunteers in the set-up and breakdown of program area; monitors materials and work areas; assists the participants as needed.
Recycling/Sustainability Aide
Recycling/Sustainability Aide: Assists with a comprehensive recycling program.
Stage Aide
Stage Aide: Assists Stage Manager and participants who are performing on stage during the day; monitors backstage area.
Survey Aide
Survey Aide: Facilitates the distribution and collection of surveys to Festival attendees.
Visitor Counter
Visitor Counter: Records the number of people attending the Festival.
