This video shows a Wayuu village elder in the La Guajira state of northern Colombia playing a traditional drum. While en route to a Smithsonian Folkways recording session, the Center’s crew stopped off to visit with local musicians. Although this region is not one of the ecosystems featured in the Colombia program of this year’s Festival, the team thought it would be nice to provide web visitors with a taste of the people and places that were a part of the research process.
